Using curcuma as a cleansing product can improve the appearance of the skin and supply it with nutrients whilst stimulating regeneration.

It is used to promote hair growth. In addition, curcuma counteracts the formation of dandruff. Curcuma conjures up warm blonde and golden hues on light hair when used as a hair dye. Add henna to attain warm copper tones or cassia to revive blonde tones.

Application:

For the hair:

  • Mix together with a selection of plant powders and boiling water until a yoghurt-like consistency is formed.
  • Cover the mixture and allow to rest for 20 minutes.
  • Then, apply the paste to dry or damp hair and massage it onto the scalp.
  • Distribute the paste throughout the lengthens of the hair.
  • Leave on for 20-50 minutes, or 1-3 hours, if it is being used as a hair dye.
  • Rinse thoroughly and cleanse with a mild shampoo.

For the face:

  • Mix with clay or other plant powders and with water.
  • Leave on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse.

Important:
Curcuma should not be mixed with indigo or catam (also, do not apply to hair previously dyed with these two powders as these residues are still bound to the hair!) - this could lead to undesirable colour results (yellow + blue = green). Do not use on bleached, highlighted or sun-bleached hair!

Curcuma should only be used sparingly on the skin to prevent any yellow staining from occurring. Problems generally do not arise when curcuma is used as a body cleanser since the powder comes into contact with the skin for a short period of time only, as opposed to using it as a face mask.

INFORMATION ABOUT HERBAL HAIR COLORS & POWDERS

When using herbal hair colors and powders, some basic things to consider are:

  • Herbal hair colors to fit like a film around each hair, which is why your natural hair color significantly influences the results.
  • Dyeing a test strand is strongly recommended!
  • Using plant-based dye on chemically colored hair can lead to unexpected results. Again, make sure you sample color a test streak!
  • Bleached or lightened hair is very responsive to herbal hair colors and powder: the colors could be more intense or could react with the chemical color to produce a green, blue or even purple color.
  • Basically it is not recommended to use the natural dyes with bleached or lightened hair as the color results could have extreme deviations
  • Please visit a competent hairdresser familiar with herbal hair colors if you would like to use the dye on bleached or lightened hair.
  • Herbal hair colors cannot make your hair lighter or bleach it. Only chemical colors can lighten your hair color.
  • Plant powder hair colors such as Senna, Cassia, Jerusalem thorn, etc., are simple  to use and require no special measures.
  • When dying chemically treated, permed, or chemically dyed hair, make sure to test a strand of hair first!

Herbal hair colors and powders should be mixed only in a bowl/ with utensils made of glass, ceramics or wood, as these natural products react with metal and can therefore lead to undesired color results.
